The Rainbow Body is said to manifest with those who have attained ultimate insight and compassion. At death, the  physical matter of the body transforms into the wisdom body, symbolized as insubstantial rainbow light. It is taught that for these enlightened beings, no physical remnant of the body is found other than fingernails and some hair.
