Female deities of Tibetan culture and myth, dakinis express the inspiring power of consciousness. A dakini is a female sambhogakaya buddha, signifying compassion, emptiness and wisdom. In addition to manifesting the power of meditation, dakinis are portrayed as spontaneous and at ease. They represent the fundamental energy of fertility which arises as the play of samsara and nirvana. A dakini can be a messenger or protector. To high resolution Mahakala Mask
