Citipati

skeleton masks2

The Lords of the Cemetery ("Citipati"), are smiling skeletons, who represent death. As dancers, the skeletons are traditionally depicted in dance performance. They are paired to represent the basic duality which structures our conventional experience of reality into oppositions such as subject and object. According to the Tibetan meditation sciences, such oppositions are illusory and not experienced in non-delusive reality.
