This item has been discontinued.
In 2004, Nitartha International developed a digital version of the Complete Tibetan Calendar. This version contains all the calendar and astrological calculation information of the print calendar, while omitting the artwork. All the information in the calendar is hyperlinked so that one can click on different areas to read explanations, and to navigate between different days of the calendar. A sample copy of the calendar for the month of January is available for free download.
The sample January file is in Adobe Reader format, and requires Adobe Reader on your computer or on your handheld. (Adobe Reader is available for free from Adobe and comes pre-installed on many systems). The file will typically open in your browser, but can be saved to your computer once open by clicking on the save button in the Adobe Reader menu bar (not the browser menu save bar), or by right-clicking on the link and choosing the suitable save to disk option.
The free sample file for the month of January 2004, can be downloaded by clicking here.
Designed for the Pocket PC and Regular PC or Mac
The Digital Complete Tibetan Calendar is an information retrieval and access system. The design used in the Adobe Reader file format for the calendar is suitable for a Windows for the Handheld PDA, and also works very well on a regular PC. The aspect ratio of each calendar page has been specifically set to fit on a standard Pocket PC screen, but the file also displays nicely on the screen of computers that read Adobe Acrobat formatted files.
The digital version of the calendar contains special advantages for calendar users who prefer their information in digital format. Although the information contained in the digital calendar is identical to the print version, the design and format are completely new and intended to leverage the advantages of the digital environment in cross-referencing information. Not simply a copy of the print calendar repackaged as a digital version, the Digital Complete Tibetan Calendar is a series of integrated digital documents that allow the user to effortlessly glide between information in the calendar.
For each day, the calendar provides complete calendar information for three different calendar systems:
- Western (Gregorian calendar) dates
- Major western holidays
- Corresponding Tibetan dates according to the Phukluk Tibetan calendar
- Corresponding Tibetan dates according to the Tsurluk Tibetan calendar
- Full and new moon days
- Buddhist holidays and practice days

Each calendar day also provides an "auspiciousness index" for that day by providing three different types of Tibetan astrological indicators of the appropriateness of the day for a particular type of activity:
- The daily element combination
- The occurrence of any Drubjor
- The daily great conjunction

| A sample glossary page from the digital version of the calendar for the "earth-earth" element combination. |
Unique to the Digital Complete Tibetan Calendar, each of the astrological indicators is directly linked to a glossary page explaining the import of that information. For example, if on January 10th (see image above), you want to look up an explanation of the Earth Fire element combination or the Banner Ruling Conjunction, just click on the names on the page and you will immediately go to the glossary explanation. All this information is available in both Roman and Tibetan script.
Each day is hyperlinked to the previous and next day through clickable buttons on every date page, and also to the month index, from where links to each day of the month are individually available.
For the handheld user, each month is contained in a separate file to save memory space. It is recommended that the handheld use carry only a few months at a time and consult longer-range dates by using a regular PC or Mac to navigate through the full range of Adobe files. Each month can be separately loaded and deleted from the handheld through the standard Adobe PDA file management menu.
On the computer, each month is also hyperlinked to other months through a separate file containing a calendar of all twelve months. Each month in this file contains a hyperlink to that month, and the annual coordination file is accessible from the entry page of each month through a "back" button. Adobe Reader transparently loads each file for a separate month, allowing easy navigation to any date throughout the year. Indeed, The Digital Complete Tibetan Calendar provides an ideal platform for retrieving the ancient wisdom and cultural traditions of Tibetan astrology as digital information.
The calendar is available for purchase from the Bodhi Dharma Store.
